I could be wrong, but it looks like this was converted to black and white to try and mask the soft focus. I can't find one spot that looks really sharp...the grain makes it look kinda dirty. On the plus side, I do like the composition (and the color) when I look past the focus.

What a cute idea! Unfortunately, the lighting just doesn't seem right - and I think it would be best if the background was either all black or all table. Nice idea, though. :)

Unwanted Textures

I'm sorry, but this photo just doesn't work. The focus is too soft to really show any texture except blur, and by not showing more of her face, all you see is cheek. There's really nothing there to focus on.

Nice macro, good composition, incredible detail. You met the challenge very well. I even like the frame. But I can't help but feel like I've seen this shot before - quite a few times, actually. This idea is used a lot, and so it's rather hard to improve on it once someone's done it well. But overall, I do like the shot, and I won't score you lower based on the creativity. But next time, maybe consider a more unique subject. :o)

Good job making these look tasty and still showing enough texture. The focus (or, perhaps the actual berries) looks a little soft, especially in the middle and right berries. But the composition is good - nice arrangement. Overall, I like it. :) Nice shot!

You showed texture pretty well, but for some reason this just doesn't look appetizing at all. I guess this close in it just makes it look a little dirty or something, I'm not sure. Good macro, though; your focus is good.

Wow. You won't get any complaints that this doesn't meet the challenge! I love the shot, and the composition is good. I do feel that compared to the rough, gritty look of the right side of the photo, the left side seems much smoother and makes the photo look a little unbalanced. But that's probably just me being too picky, so don't worry about losing points over that. ;o) Great shot!
