Chaos? ... I can get you plenty of chaosby ederontiverosComment: Honestly, this needs a counterpoint.
A dirty fingertip. A faint face in the background. Anything... Otherwise, it's just a picture of a match. And not a super great one at that.
If there was a face reminiscent of Jack Nicholson with dementia, the noise visible here could easily be redeemed. |

Voices Withinby LMA128Comment: I don't know why, but this one doesn't hit me where it probably ought to.
I see the contrasting elements of light and dark in the top left and right hand corners, but I don't really feel the girl's emotion. I see outcry, but I don't feel her pain.
Which is odd given my personal background with mental disorders in the family. |

Surface Tensionedby jencruzComment: Looks pretty cool and I think it's pretty well captured, but I think I'd like this better if it were cropped in about 25% so it wasn't obvious that it was water in a glass. |

Origin of the Godsby doremiComment: That's pretty cool. One of the more 'chaotic' feeling fireworks shots. Could probably use a bit of a punch in the curves or levels. Seems your white point is really low. |

Frenziedby pixelpigComment: Weird. Look like there's a frog dancing in the BG. Unfortunately, while this is visually odd, I don't find it appealing in any way. |

IMG_0093by LadyKComment: Nice triangular compo. I'm quite happy with the fact that it's off-center. Doesn't detract IMHO.
What I don't like:
#1 - You seem to be using some moderately heavy handed editing on these. Look at the arms, there's bright red speckling all over the place. That suggests a really high level of saturation in at least one or two channels.
Also, I'm seeing very odd artifacts in the stones. Could be "less than desirable" bokeh, but I'm not that familiar with the 24-70 f/2.8.
As far as exposure, those rails are torqued a little bit too strong. They are by far the brightest things in the entire picture, and as such, they attract all the eye's attention.
Tough to balance since the girl is backlit...
Also, another factor in this is the very dark scenery. I actually don't dislike that tremendously, it's just that it seems a bit strong when compared with the rest of the scene.
And as with the others, the girl is underexposed. Especially in the face and eyes. |

IMG_0272by LadyKComment: I like the colors and the luminosity in the sunset (having recently dabbled with sunsets for the first time), but it does look a bit like you've taken this to HDR and it's gone a bit wrong for you with the haloing and some other unusual artifacts.
Also, not sure if it was possible, but the girl seems kind of underexposed. And I'm not sure what emotion I'd call that on her face. Nothing jumps to mind.
Otherwise, it's a nice composition with the girl and sun and water. I'd probably slice about 10% or so off the top tho. Message edited by author 2010-07-08 10:49:44. |

fairy-003.jpgby jomariComment: Wow, this is outstanding. It shows a way of taking a picture of something mundane without making it look too real. Adding a bit of magic to the shot.
I think if you had taken it yet one little step further and played with some paint style filters and effects on the flowers and the canvas I see on the right, it might have brought it even a bit farther forward and blended the soft effect layered on top with the image below.
Great job with the texture effects. |
