day 10by scwalshComment: Sharp tool. Curve leads the eye, but crop and angle of approach leaves me feeling flat on the subject; there is too much black and not enough of a focal draw for me to say 'wow. Look at that ding there in the link!'. Silver vs Grey background definitely mutes the impact that the chain's silver could have. Excellent focus. Nice subject matter - amazingly clean chain saw! |

day 11by scwalshComment: Abstract, stark, simple, leading line that works. A soft sharpness that DPC voters will dislike, but I like it a lot. The crop and final sizing makes me feel like it is too small (not 640 - even though it technically is larger!) Might lose some points by those who snap when they see an image that isn't the 'accepted width.' A bit more of a shadow would lend a lot of interest to the image. For me in a tools/macro/closeup/rust/metal challenge, this would get a 6. As a side-challenge macro, I give it an 8. |

Day 05 - Shoeby hajekaComment: Love the liquid feel of the leather and contrasting but similar textures of the lace! This is a great idea for a macro and I would not hesitate to give it an 8 in a black/leather/clothing type of challenge. Square crop seems to work, but leaves me a bit uneasy, not sure why. |

Day 06 - Cloveby hajekaComment: How large is this thing in reality? It looks like it might be only an inch or so, maybe smaller. Excellent detail. Static macro that would probably get killed in a DPC challenge, but as a side challenge entry is superior. (Looks like a hot pixel on the center-left of the clove?) |

Day 07 - Cauliflowerby hajekaComment: Perfect focus, Perfect placement, Excellent detail. This really looks like a brain! I would be jumping about the image except that it is on that darn static black background that leaves it stark/void of any impact and the image suddenly goes from a potential super impacting 9-10 to a ho-hum 5.
As a macro however. I love it. |

Day 08 - Inside a tulipby hajekaComment: Ok, now. Do I love this? YES. Fill the frame, macro, flowers, complementary colors, perhaps abstract all a solid 7, possibly and 8 from me. What could be better? More sharp. Slightly more detail on the pollen (comes off muddy to me.) Perhaps a variant of lighting that casts a bit of shadow in an odd angle to the rest? Maybe more saturation? Not certain. Overall I feel good about it despite the wind oof. |

Day 09 - Burning matchby hajekaComment: I don't like it either. Too much noise in the flame, subject comes off bland and this would get killed in a challenge for flame or wood as little more than a 2-3 from me. That said, You've done well to get both the flame and the wood exposed properly, which I can never do. |

Day 10 - Clothes pin by hajekaComment: Like the subject and that the coloration is complimentary. The pattern and crop work very well. Would love to see a tertiary complimentary color as the background, rather than black, but that's me. High marks for focus point and texture captured. Colors are too out of norm for a high finish with the voters, but would find a solid 6 from me in Abstract/household/Colors/patterns challenge. (Nitpick: Lower Left Green Pin has a white speck that anal people will subtract for.) |

Day 11 - Old tapeby hajekaComment: Great color reproduction. Super clarity in light and shadows. Crisp focus and nice crop. The dust on the black surface adds a great dimension to the whole. Impressed with DOF choice a lighting/exposure. A great macro capture for technicals. Would be hammered in challenges based on subject and a perceived lack of some redeeming underlying and unspoken message, but certainly a 6 from me in a Yellow, Rubber, Household or Tools challenge. |
