This is such a twisted image. I like the spirals and the long crop. The rust and pitting are great textural elements. |

After I get past my first thoughts about how much machining it must take to make one of these auger bits, I see the spiral as the main attraction. I think that I would have moved in closer, and left out the point end, to just have the spiral across the frame. This would be a good subject for a fisheye shot. Thanks for the idea! |

I think a tighter crop would really improve this image... this can also ruin it by showing how out of focus it might be. Just my $.02 |

Ditto to what has been said with this addition....it looks so lonely. |

Needs a little more darkening I think, but cool. |

What can I say after that elegant critique except well done. My eyes are lead to the right when I look at this. |

Abstract, stark, simple, leading line that works. A soft sharpness that DPC voters will dislike, but I like it a lot. The crop and final sizing makes me feel like it is too small (not 640 - even though it technically is larger!) Might lose some points by those who snap when they see an image that isn't the 'accepted width.' A bit more of a shadow would lend a lot of interest to the image. For me in a tools/macro/closeup/rust/metal challenge, this would get a 6. As a side-challenge macro, I give it an 8. |

Subtle light here, perhaps a little small photo, but very nice. |
