Fly Trapby lear202btComment: Many points for bravery, obnoxiousness and making me feel sick before breakfast. |

Line of Dropsby LydiaComment: It's competent. The window reflection is either a technical flaw or the only thing of interest in the picture. The same with the uneveness of the line.
I'm sorry, but it's just very boring while not being close to perfect enough to impress me on a purely technical level. |

Frosty Line to the Throne (Windsor Castle)by bobonacusComment: That's always a tempting prospect that makes for slightly unsatisfying pictures. I think that the problem might be that the trees lining the avenue aren't tall enough to justify the very central composition. The image is too stolid. Maybe if one were to lie down and use an ultrawide angle lens? |

which way ?by lolor275Comment: The border ruins it. You have a picture that gives a sense of a wide, open space hemmed in by an ugly frame. |

Into the Blueby Dirt_DiverComment: My favourite so far. I like the hint of asymmetry of the lines. It turns an average composition into a beautiful one. |

Limbs Point To Roots...by 777STANComment: Hard to look at. There's something about the relationship between the tree and the background that hurts.
And yet it is a strong subject. |

Straight and narrowby ButterflyGirlComment: The problem is that these lines lead me away from the subject. I stare at the blurred greenery at the edge of the frame and wonder whether you really wanted an OOF foreground or whether you simply didn't think about the depth of field required.
The detail in the photo is hidden because of the small complex subject(s) and the low resolution. Perhaps this would work better as a print, but it certainly doesn't here. |

gangstaby nomad469Comment: As you mentioned this as an example.
I personally wouldn't classify the photo as being of a 'punk loser', nor do I doubt that model is a nice guy.
But, when I look at the photograph itself certain ideas leap out at me: the title itself is 'gangsta', and while gangstas and gangsters are not the same thing, the latter certainly were punk losers. The model's expression is aggressive, the money suggests a morally bankrupt greed.
I don't really have any visceral reaction to the photo at all, but I really don't see how you can dismiss Lance's reaction to it as irrelevant or unhelpful. People have strong reactions to art, and I don't see why you don't encourage emotional responses to your work, because otherwise all you're left with is a set of dry technical advice. |
