 Play of light & shadows on a basement staircase. Took in black & white to eliminate distracting, ugly colors in the basement. Used rule of thirds to make composition more interesting. Took a long exposure to use available light to accentuate the interesting shadows and give the feeling of spookiness that one sometimes gets in a basement. I like the darkness and angles that I believe help with this feeling. Enhanced light & contrast, straightened and cropped slightly.

This picture might've been more effective if you had cropped out the stairs a little - they're somewhat distracting to me. I love the shadows that the light cast though!

My initial impression was this photo didn't do anything for me but after looking at it awhile it began to grow on me. Mainly because I started thinking about what's behind the door. I think it would be a little better if more of the left wall was showing
