Daisy Reflectionsby WildpurpleComment: This is stunning. I keep coming back to it because teh flower is so powerful against the tree - the perspective is very unique. Beautiful highlights and shadows - just like an adams! 10 |

Wadi Seer gorge towards the Dead Seaby XileboComment: This is an excellent composition. THe only thing you may want to try to do is have very black blacks. Most of Ansel's work had very light lights and very black blacks at least in one place in the photo. By under-exposing by around -3 or -7 of an F stop, you may achieve this in the darkness of the trees in the forefront. |

Closerby eckoeComment: I really like the shadows and highlights you captured. However, there doens't appear to be any point in the image that has a strong focus. Also, the extra negative space is distracting because it isn't large enough. I find (and this is just a rule of thumb) that you should either have your subject take the whole frame, or allow your negative and positive space to take up thirds on the page. The negative space should take up at least 1/3 of the space. Sometimes it can take up 2/3 if it really enhances the subject. Here, it takes up 1/8 of the space or so. |

Twiddlingby GeneralEComment: You may want to increase the contrast in PhotoShop or in your camera. It's always good to have really white whites and really dark (as close to black as possible) in your B&W shots. There's a tiny bit of black in the lines around the fingers, but it's good to try to create some sort of visual balance between your lights adn your darks. This is unfortunately too light and there is a bit too much noise. You may want to try to set your ISO at the lowest possible. |
