Intermingleby elsapoComment: I tried but couldn't see what's opposite here. If it's opposite colors on the color wheel, then I'm afraid I miss that boat because I don't know which colors are opposite. That said, the image doesn't hold too much visual interest for me. |

Fire and Iceby JukomoxComment: Fire and Ice is tough to pull off. Here's what I think falls short in this image: contrast, using ice cubes, and going in black and white (which seems like a waste of color for this kind of image!). The "flame" is a bit odd, and there's no visual explanation for that. The composition doesn't treat the eye, IMHO. |

Fire and Iceby DragonStarComment: Like so many of the Fire and Ice entries, this falls short of being compelling. There's no drama here, nothing to make the viewer wonder WHY there is Fire and Ice together. The image is rather flat, the flame just so-so, and the ice bland. Tough subject to do well -- that's why I stayed away from it! lol |

chessmenby MorbidAngelComment: Terrible focus! Even if that were fixed, the image is static. Chessmen lined up on a chessboard. What's different about YOUR perspective? Try different angles, get the thing focused, work on better lighting, move some of the pieces around, and you'll have something interesting. |

The Lights at Nightby LenMComment: This is conveying Opposites, how? What I see is a picture that doesn't give my eye somewhere to rest; there are three competing spots of light that don't seem related to one another. The moon part with the branches is actually rather interesting, but it gets lost in the larger picture. |

Fire and Iceby Sweetheart02Comment: Personally I think Fire and Ice is hard to pull off. Lots of people tried in this contest, and most fell short. Your "fire" is overblown, and your "ice" is rather oddly shaped, in terms of composition. Plus, you have blue artifacts on the right hand side of the shot. |

Sweet & Sourby Brooklyn513Comment: I had this idea as well, and didn't do it, for the same reason that your picture runs into problems -- how does one make white grains of sugar interesting? The table top background is not helping, and the composition of the lemon and sugar isn't particularly engaging. Yes, the picture meets the challenge but aside from that, there's not much going on here to reward the eye. |

Othello?by MarkComment: Why the question mark in the title? This shot doesn't hold much interest. The colors are so-so, the lines appear out of focus, and the cropping is a bit awkward (especially at the top left and right corner). Might try a top down picture to eliminate the underside of each piece. |
