Scent of a Summer Evening by danielvComment: Wow very beautiful shot and judging by the before pic very nice photoshopping as well. You should do one of those 'How did they do that' photoshop tutorials to show some of us noobs how to restore a pic backlit like that. The final pic is a very deserving blue ribbon winner. Congrats! |

Summer's First Saturday Sunset 2007 by xtianComment: Wow what a great way to ruin a sunset. Take the color out of it. But fear not, thanks to all the pretentious knuckleheads that would rate a picture of dung with high marks if it were B&W, you've scored a ribbon. WTG! Congrats on figuring out how to win the popularity contest among these wacky voters. Now if only you'd run for president to give the economy a boost by giving the comedians some more material for the next 4-8 years we'd be set.
Oh I'm kidding! Seriously nice work. I would never have thought to desat a sunset but it works.
I guess,
To each his own.
Sincerely,
HeadKnucklehead.
That should have been my username. HeadKnucklehead. It's like H2O, only it'd be H2K. Unlike Y2K, actually a real disaster waiting to happen.
Yours Truly,

The long way to the solution by krasavitsa_1Comment: Originally posted by adrian45: I like the thinking behind the shot - working out the value of 'Pi'- such a strange value in maths, it is the only value I have heard of which has no end. I think it's how to find out the number of times the width accross a circle divides into the distance round the outside, and it's about 3 and one-seventh I think, but if finely measured, it is and infinitely long number, as it doesnt fit precisely. I mean, it has never been completely written down, I understand, as it would need several hundred inconveniently large buildings to house the paper needed.
Are you a mathematician then? I thought 'the long way to the solution' was about hand-decorating wallpaper, but when I looked at the pix, it was more thoughtful than that.
Well deserved ribbon - hope to see more of yours later |
It's not the only value that has no end. It doesn't need several hundred inconveniently large buildings to house the paper needed. It goes on infinitely. That means it goes on forever. So you cannot ever write it ALL down so it will never fit in any number of buildings. Just to clear up some misconceptions.
I will agree that it is a well deserved ribbon and congrats to the photographer. I would have liked to be able to read the text easier, perhaps a blackboard would have been more suitable. But I'm nitpicking. Well done. |
