"A picture is worth thousand words". Indeed! I am adding to my favs! Tnx.

I am no longer at the level of mathematical prowess needed to assess the validity of your solution, but this one definitely got a smile.

Well I'm not sure what I can add to a Ribbon winning shot, but here goes. First things first congrats on the first ribbon on DPC. I like the shot and the concept and its wonderfully done. A few quick suggestions. I'd like to see the text wider and not so long because when you resize to fit challenge size the writing becomes tougher to see. I'd also like to see just a touch more contrast in it. Otherwise pretty much great shot. Of course the voters already told you that.

I mean, it has never been completely written down, I understand, as it would need several hundred inconveniently large buildings to house the paper needed.

Are you a mathematician then? I thought 'the long way to the solution' was about hand-decorating wallpaper, but when I looked at the pix, it was more thoughtful than that.

Well deserved ribbon - hope to see more of yours later

It's not the only value that has no end. It doesn't need several hundred inconveniently large buildings to house the paper needed. It goes on infinitely. That means it goes on forever. So you cannot ever write it ALL down so it will never fit in any number of buildings. Just to clear up some misconceptions.

I will agree that it is a well deserved ribbon and congrats to the photographer. I would have liked to be able to read the text easier, perhaps a blackboard would have been more suitable. But I'm nitpicking. Well done.

Congrats on a great interpretation, your first ribbon, and your new personal best score!

Pozdravlyayu, krasavitsa! Nice idea!

I tried to make sense out of this derivation, but could not quite follow the logic. What is the problem he is solving? :)

Bravo. Very cleanly delivered idea.

05/09/2007 07:11:22 AM
now, I know why the problem is not yet solved because you are still working on it ;);) Congrats!!!!
05/09/2007 06:04:17 AM
How awesome is THAT! So clean! Congratulations!

GREAT idea, excellent execution, and congrats on the red!! Well deserved.

Thanks everyone for your support! I`m so happy for my first ribbon. (after 5 hours work of gluing A3 papers side to side to make a 4 meters sheet without seams and writing all these down and having my knees red... this is a relief)
05/09/2007 01:40:52 AM
God am I glad I didn't enter. Mine was just like this only nowhere near as good.
05/09/2007 01:02:58 AM
Well deserved Red, congratulations.
05/08/2007 10:08:50 PM
Oh man, you totally messed up - right there in that middle part where you have pi over 4 - that should be pi*R2.

...LOL made ya look! I have no idea what I'm talking about. Congrats on second place and a creative and well executed shot.

Congratulations. Brilliant idea. I like the simple and very effective presentation.
05/08/2007 08:10:51 PM
I will assume the math is correct. Congrats on your ribbon!

Have you seen the picture "Demostrazione per Pi greco" i think they have cheated and coppied your answer ;-)

I really like this one, the complexity of the equations instead of just random numbers like in most photos.
