when you are stuck in the past ...by sainazComment: This is an excellent and emotional portrayal of desolation. Nice contrast between the bare walls in the top half and the busy photos in the bottom half. The lines in the floor, baseboards, and corner lead the eye to the subject, whose posture is great for this image. You've controlled the depth of field perfectly; the person is in focus and the photos are blurred just enough to be recognizable without them being too distracting. |

Final Sunset by rcrawfordComment: Beautiful colors and well focused. Seems a bit over-sharpened, but that may be the monitor I'm using (not my calibrated one at home). Conveys desolation well. I wish there was a bit of space to the left of the tree like there is to the right. |

Aloneby didnthaveacameraComment: This is a beautiful image and technically well done. I like the composition and the symmetry. It doesn't seem very desolate to me, probably because I enjoy being alone and would love to be in this setting for my pondering and prayer time. But that's just me; the difference between loneliness and aloneness is internal and difficult to express visually. |

What Lies Belowby FayechComment: Nice composition here, emphasizing the right angles, even the one at the top that was cut off; although not visible, it is definitely part of the photo. Unfortunately, the subject just isn't very interesting. |

Gates to Mountainsby ChicagrafoComment: The lines in the gate are striking, but the gate by itself isn't very interesting. The view behind the gate isn't very interesting either; where are the mountains from the title? |

Is this the right angle Daddy?by FandangoComment: The strength of this photo comes from the girl and the object she is holding, not the fact that that object contains a couple of right angles. (The image would be just as strong if she was holding, say, a french curve.) The objects on the right side of the photo compete with the subject and should be cropped out. The glare on the girl's chest is a bit distracting, but I like the way the lighting is arranged to put the shadow just the right place. |

Getting wrid of these right anglesby jjbeguinComment: Just the right amount of motion blur here. It would have been nice if the man's hair could be distinguished from the background, although the lighting may have been beyond your control. I don't care for the gratuitous use of "right angles" in the title, and the borders detract rather than add to this photo. |

Nature's Building Blocksby JC_HomolaComment: I like the contrasts here, both of the materials and the pointed vs rounded right angles. The lighting and depth of field emphasize the three dimensionality of the subject, although as a viewer, I wish all the metal cubes were in better focus. The cubes embedded at an angle add interest, as do the imperfections in the surfaces. The cloth surface the cubes are sitting on doesn't really match the rest of the photo; a flat surface may have worked better. |

Spiderby DufusComment: An interesting variation from a typical silhouette, showing depth by controlling focus. Getting part of the web to show was probably difficult, and is essential to making this photo work. There are some incidental right angles, but they aren't what gives this image strength. |

Acrobatic Anglesby bryskydComment: Some of the angles these acrobats make aren't quite 90 degrees, but they're close enough. You did a nice job of catching their act. The slight motion blur of the top person's legs is a nice touch. The lighting is harsh, but there's not much to be done about that California sun! |
