Didn;t get to comment on this during the challenge. A lovely shot and quite clever. I think the subject would have been better placed turned away from the camera, although not a 180, more a 125 degree turn. Good, clean image - could have used a touch more contrast/levels.

Wonderful! "cry me a river". Beautiful calm water. I think the sky is just a little too light for the rest of the photo but you can't do anything about it for the contest. My favorite thing to do in cases like this, if my polarizer filter doesn't help with the exposure is to use my graduated gray filter. It would have worked well here. I can't wait to find out where this was taken, it's such a beautiful, calm water.

This is a beautiful image and technically well done. I like the composition and the symmetry. It doesn't seem very desolate to me, probably because I enjoy being alone and would love to be in this setting for my pondering and prayer time. But that's just me; the difference between loneliness and aloneness is internal and difficult to express visually.

Your subject is in such a beautiful place I think more of meditation than desolution. Good compostion. 6

Lighting seems a little low although I can appreciate that this may have been a deliberate choice made to enhance to dark mood of the content. I like the reflection and the gentle pinks of the sky.

Very beautiful landscape Hard to take a decent picture with the rocks in the front and the trees in the back The trees look a little foggy And the sky a bit to overexposured But then again the rocks are very dark so it would be difficult to have it any other way. I love the reflection in the water. Mabey you could have taken out a bit yellow color to give it a little more blue? Anyway nice job [8]

I like your shot. I might have cropped the right side a bit more to bring the eye to the person.

Too much beauty here to be desolate but I will go with posture of your subject and score high because this is a great picture. I aspire to the challenge that this kind of photo offers to me.

Lovely reflections. Your main subject is a little too central though. Showing more of the lake and less of the rocks would probably have helped here. Use of exposure lock or manual exposure and focus lock would allow you to do this. 6

It is hard for me to say that this is a good representation of desolation at all. It is a fine picture... it just doesn't pull the slightest feeling of desolation from me. Perhaps some lonliness, but lakes, to me, show hope and life. It's hard to think of desolation when the whole lake is there full of life.
