Thanks for the honest and helpful comments. last day of the contest 3am local time here, this idea came to me, so i got off the bed, put a jean and a shirt on, and took my camera and my pockets of unorganized photos and found a corner in the living room. each time i put the camera on timer, and in a hurry i sat infront of it. my source of light was my desk lamp. and i couldn't change the camera's direction, the way i wanted.
i'm so happy about my picture, i had something on my mind, a message and i tried to make it in frames. and your comments shows that i have.

Great idea behind this. One of my favorites this week. 9.

Looks like she's had a bust up with not only the boyfriend but an entire county!! Set up must have taken some collating afterwards. The shot is a bit staged and lacking in tonal range, contrast and crispness which renders the cliché a bit ineffectual. [3]

Original idea, great photo. In my opinion, showing her face would make it even better.

Powerful image, but I can't say I think "desolation" with this. Lonely, depressed, desperate, hopeless are all words that come to mind from viewing this.

Interesting idea. The exposure is a little too dark for my preferences and that shadow on the lefthand side distracts from the main subject.

This is an excellent and emotional portrayal of desolation. Nice contrast between the bare walls in the top half and the busy photos in the bottom half. The lines in the floor, baseboards, and corner lead the eye to the subject, whose posture is great for this image. You've controlled the depth of field perfectly; the person is in focus and the photos are blurred just enough to be recognizable without them being too distracting.

nice idea but needs more "drama".. maybe more contrast..

Great idea and nice composition with the heaviness of the images below and the clean wall above. Overall somewhat dark for my preferences.

More contrast would be good. Overall a nice shot. Good sense of emotion and tells a story!

Did you try to increase contrast ?

Very nice concept and execution. I really think this is a good take on the challenge. I think the cigarette in her hand actually takes away from the feeling of despair though, but that could just be me.

What's she holding? A cigarette or crack pipe? Not sure I like it there. This shot may have more impact with the photos in focus with a real shallow depth of field and the chick out of focus.... drives attention on the memories and not the chick. Just a thought... (7)

powerful - I would personally like it a bit brighter, more contrast but this image gives me something of the photographer not just a contrived "meet the challenge"
I think of desolation as motionless and this is very static

My favourite shot this challenge... although not the highest scoring. The composition doesn't quite work for me... I don't like the way the picture has been split in half vertically. Maybe the pictures should take up more of the frame? There's also a strange shadow on the left at the base of the wall.
However, this is a really clever concept... I love this take on desolation where you are alone in the present because you can't drag yourself out of the past. Definitely the most creative shot this challenge. I had toyed with the idea of taking a shot of someone in a corner, but without your concept it would have been very poor. I think it could have benefited from some sharpening. Effective lighting. Well done... 9

Great Subject. I would have used a little more light.
