*** Critique Club ***
My first impression is of a well thought out composition. Even though the girl is looking out of the frame it works here.
Even though the background is blown out it is not distracting. The background being out of focus helps here (DOF is bang on). The main subject is very sharp and the skintone appears acurate. A reflector may have helped with the darker areas on the right side of your model.
Well done.

I agree with bledford wholly. I gave it a 9, should have given it a 10 in retrospect.
Stunning photograph; I hope I can do work like this one day. |

5th place is a great showing, but I'm pretty disappointed that this didn't ribbon. It's one of the better shots I've seen on the site and, pardon me for saying, it blows the other entries out of the water for portraying hope in a meaningful, emotional way. This is an immediate classic that I will go back to for reference many times in the future. |

Many many thanks. I am very pleased with my top 5 finish. It was a tedious job deciding on my entry as I have 5 choices. Now, it is irrelevant to ask myself if I could have done better if I submitted another one of my 4 other choices. I am glad it has an above 6 average score.
Zoomdak, JPR and mrsamsa, I will be very surprised if you can guess my fairy tale entry. BradP, no coaching please.
Anyway, thank you for the very good comments.

Excellent image.
After looking at it for a bit, my thought is that she is longing for the blurry guy, but only because that is the only thing I can deduce from the image.
6 from me. |

Librodo? I love this photograph. One of the best candids I have seen. The eyes and the nervous playing with the ear/hair is perfect. 10. My choice for second place. |

I think this photo is a lovely example of how to convey a feeling. I would have known how this relates to hope even if it had been without a title. 8. |

This is great. After going through and voting this was the one so far that has made me really stop and say "wow" 1) Creative!!!! 2) Cute model 3) Great composition 4) Great color and detail 5) Great title. There is nothing negative to say about this photo as it is very well done and I think the most creative and well done photo for this subject. Her facial expression couldn't be better. Way to go! |

Good work. Not quite sure about the balance of the tight ccrop on her face and the negative space image left - feels sllightly uncomfortable, but I guess that's not an un-useful effect here. You might have titled it 'I hope he stops following me' and had a more sinister image, which just goes to show the impact of titles I suppose. |

Excellent composition. Love the lighting and the way you have handled DOF. This is a Brilliant shot. One of my favourites.
One little thing I noticed: There's this one hair which looks like it's going into the guy's eye. |

There is a real look of hope and expectation on the young girls face.
The lighting and shallow DOF work well to give the image impact.
Superbly set up and modelled, I have absolutely no doubts that this will ribbon (hope that doesn`t jinx you)....great work....10 |
