So for my first submission on dpchallenge I decided I wanted it to be perfect so I have waited for a good challenge. My initial plan was to drive out to Joshua Tree (3 hour drive ended up being 5 hours cause of traffic), camp the night alone and snap as many photos as I could of the Perseids meteor shower. I knew that the moon was going to be full on the 13th so I went up the 11th to hopefully show more stars. When I got there everything went up in smoke, I set up a time lapse to try to get as many as I could but I did not see a single meteor in the 5 hours I was there, so plan b. Since it was close to a full moon I decided to do a shot where it looked like day time. I found this gnarled dead tree on the way out and tried to snap some shots, I was happy with them while i was there but once i blew them up I realized i didn't get the composition or focus perfect. So I decided it would have been a waste to go all the way there and not submit a photo, so i am submitting this one. I'm hoping for a 5 rating but realistically a 4.

PP: Just some noise reduction in camera raw, and resize.

You found a great shape to photograph, branch and sky. It's lacking contrast.

Beautiful, love the surreality of it.
