This is a part of a small island inside Great South Bay in Long Island, New York. You can see the whole island here.

...oops, now you know that my entry is nothing but a screenshot from the Google maps.. just kidding. It was taken as my plane approached JFK after a long transatlantic flight from Moscow. I wish I could frame my shot better and fit the whole island in there, but I did not control the plane :). Furthermore, I sat in the back of the airplane, and the wing blocked most of my view, so I was lucky to be able to capture anything at all. Glad it seems to be doing pretty well, I did not expect that.
