Still in voting, just to leave a comment myself :). I'm glad this one is well received. The idea was to make the mouse trap look a bit camouflaged, or more like lurking in the shadow on the floor. There was a thought of leaving the color of the cheese (there is a bit of cheese in there), but I wasn't sure. The long shutter speed - well, no real explanation, I guess that would be some lasting impressions of the Weston challenge :). It's daylight of a not very bright Sunday. The windows are high near the ceiling.
Thank you Bear_Music for sharing (in another discussion), the processing ideas used here.

Wow, top 10, thank you for your votes!
I was going to shoot a bonsai tree in this environment but as I was cleaning up, I almost stepped on this old mouse trap.
The pp - created a color image first with a layer of SEP in Luminosity mode. However, the color patches on the wall and pipes seemed distracting, so I applied SEP again. Combined with the Luminosity layer, this brought up the textures really nicely. Then, there was a touch of Gaussian blur on the shadows. Other than that, some curves adjustment, spot healing brush for cloning out some stains and Luko's sharpening on the final resolution. The idea of leaving color on the mouse trap or the cheese seemed too fancy :). |

Hey, an object that actually belongs in an empty room! Amazing!
Cheekiness aside, this was one of my faves from the challenge. No suggestions, really. Nice submission. |

I like how the B&W conversion has really made the details stick out. |

Love the tones a lot. The mouse trap needs to be a little brighter to draw the eye to it more since it is a key element in this photograph. Currently I am drawn to the pipes in the background. Still very good image and it should do well. 8! |
