Critique Club
Congrats on a well deserved 3rd place! I liked this photo for many reasons, and I think it was one of the best in the challenge.
Composition - the composition here is excellent! I love the bright red on this duck's head. I think it worked out very well and you got every part of him in the photo.
Color - Nice job... maybe slightly grey but extremely well done.
Background - the one thing that slightly bothers me is the color of the background as his wings kind of blend into it. Obviously since this was in the wild it couldn't be helped. Great DOF, love the plainness of the background. Very nice job.
Focus - the focus is maybe the teeniest bit soft, but almost unnoticably, I think this may be due to what looks like foggy, or thick weather.
Originality - this was one of the most original uses of motion for the challenge! I really liked it!
Fit for the challenge - PERFECT! This was an excellent show between still and motion, I really think it was wonderful. Excellent catch!
Overall fabulous job. This was definitely a winner! Congrats! |

| Really,really, nice shot, composed well with no distractions. Subject dominates picture and in focus (the parts that need to be I suppose). And really does convey a feeling of motion. Only one suggestion - have you tried adjusting the image using levels or a similar editing tool to employ a full range of tones in your image? I tried it on the image and it really seems to bring out the colors. Cropping off the wood the bird is sitting on puts the bird a little more off center and strengthens the composition, but that's a little more personal and I think yours worked just fine. After challenge is over I'd love to show you what I tried and hear your opinion :) |

| Ooo nice shot. I like how the wings are blurred by motion, but the head is in clear focus. the background is removed from distracting the viewer wonderfully. great shot, well done. |
