The composition is nice if a bit far from the boarder, and I really like the trees shrouded in haze, but that show is nasty. :) Also, what is going on in the back? It looks like someone lost a board! I also noticed some fringing from compression in the sky, the file is just 20K, you could have compressed it a lot less.

Sure looks cold there. With the stormy conditions you got good stop action. I find the other objects in foreground and background distract from the picture.

A tighter crop of the snowboarder would've been more dramatic. There's just too much dead space here.

This would have been a great shot if the weather conditions would have been better. I might have tried to get the jumper to fill up the photo..

That's way cool. If only it had been a nicer day.

too much empty space at the top. the color of hte board contrasts very nicely with the rest of the picture.

i like the blizzard look though i suspect many will down-vote you for the dimness. and the stop action is lovely.

Looks foggy. Seems like that would make difficult conditions for stop-action, but you did good. I kind of like the mood it sets.

I like the contrast of the red against the grey of the rest of the image.

You did a good job stopping the motion. This would have been a more appealing photo if it were taken on a nicer day.

The red board really stands out and attracts the eye, but needs to be a bit more central

cool. i would have preferred to see the jumper in profile.

bloody boarders ... nice shot though :) Shame about the board sticking out in the background

well captured and stopped in what looks pretty poor lighting conditions - good external flash would have helped to light and colour the subject making it stand out darkening the backdrop and giving u a faster shutter speed - allowing you to get even closer to the subject - just my thoughts - additional equipment is not always at your disposal.

nice stop too bad about the bad snow conditions

I like your viewing angle. Very interesting subject. As constructive criticism, you may have tried to overexpose the scene a little more. As you may already know, when shooting in a bright scene, such as snow or very bright sunlight, the camera will tend to meter for a short exposure or small (numerically large) aperture as it tries to average the scene to neutral grey. You then have to overexpose the shot to compensate for this if your subject is a darker object in the scene. I think this probably would have been a fabulous photo if the exposure would have been "nailed". Again, please take this in the spirit it is intended as I have no desire to "tell you something you already know". Nice work.

a little dark

Big air, as they say. Tricky subject with the limited light.

Kawabunga!!

Maybe if you had more of the snowboarder and less of the surroundings I might like it better.
04/15/2002 12:43:00 PM
im a fan of snowboading, but I might have waited for a nicer day to shoot.

I like the fogginess, it makes it stand out from other snowboard pictures i've seen.
04/15/2002 05:51:00 AM
The picture is too grey for me. That, and there are what looks like compression artifacts here.
04/15/2002 05:08:00 AM
good air , but too much sky. Need to be closer in or more tightly cropped to have a good impact. Crappy weather didn't help you much.
04/15/2002 04:44:00 AM
Good shot, the red jumps out at you.
04/15/2002 04:23:00 AM
I like the fog in this photo. The effect of stopped motion in this photo is OK too. To improve this photo, I may have cropped differently to eliminate the empty space at the top of the shot. I don't know if you could have had the camera lower to the ground, but if so, it may have created a more dramatic effect.
