As hard as it would be, I'd have tried to get the humming bird away from the edge of the picture. :) |

would love to see this cropped in tighter to the bird. |

The bird is too hard to fine in the photo. Might have been better if you croped more of the picture to enlarge the bird. |

This pic needs just a bit more contrast to make the hummingbird stand out. |

Your shutter speed was too slow. |

I really like it. Good job. |

Nice photo, very hard to get a photo of a humming bird in flight. |

It is almost impossible to do this with a consumer digital ... |

Great subject. Would have been nicer if it was a bit larger. The bright flowers detract from the subject. |

it's such a nice shot, i wished you had zoomed in to the bird. |

You are a brave soul, the hummingbird is stopped, and that makes it a good picture for this challenge. I think if the bird had been larger, or more centered, it might not have gotten lost to me. |

Motion trails in the wings, closer up would have been better |

Interesting colors. Focus seems soft. Looks like you had a high ISO. |

I think the bird should have been more dominant in the picture. |

nice try, but I want to see the wings! |
04/17/2002 02:50:00 PM |
wish this shot was tighter on the bird rather than the flowers. bonus for catching it in action though! ;) |

I love the colors. You are so lucky to get the chance to capture one of these beautiful birds with you camera. |

Pity the wings aren't in focus, but then I doubt many shutters are fast enough! |

I like the colors. You stopped the bird, but not the wings. Since I don't know what it would take to stop a hummingbird's wings, I won't cut much for the motion. |

good attempt - must be one of the most difficult subjects you could find! |

cute birdy. it's a little hard to see. i guess these are hard subjects to catch. |

Would've been a 10 if you could've captured its wings stopped. That would've been impressive! |

good try ... this must have been a really tough shot to get. Would have preferred to see the hummingbird in a different position in the frame ... perhaps cropping would help the viewer to focus on the subject |

Too bright and I still see a little motion blur. ;-) |

Really tough subject to catch, so kudos for that one. |
04/16/2002 09:50:00 AM |
Hummingbird shouldn't be so high in the photo |
04/16/2002 08:55:00 AM |
my eye is distracted from the subject by the bright pink flowers, unfortunately that makes this otherwise sweet picture hard to look at |
04/16/2002 05:12:00 AM |
this was a tricky shot. the bird gets lost amongst the flowers |
04/15/2002 05:57:00 PM |
I like the over-exposure here, gives it a nice pastely artisitic look. |
04/15/2002 04:38:00 PM |
A more suitable shot would feature the humming bird's wings completely stopped, though I realize that's quite a task. |
04/15/2002 03:39:00 PM |
Tough subject. Very difficult to capture. Prett scenery, but the subject is almost lost. Wish you could have isolated him more. Good work. |

when this is over you'll have to tell me what is growing. |

Didn't quite the wings stopped |

I enjoy hummingbirds immensely. I hope to photograph some of my own this summer. These little guys are hard to freeze but I have some ideas that may work :) This little guy is a little too close to te top of the frame in this photo and there's not a lot of contrast that really forces him out as the subject of the photo. |
04/15/2002 09:53:00 AM |
What a great idea. Looks like the motion was not stopped totally. |
04/15/2002 09:16:00 AM |
A bit blurry over the whole image, couldn't stop the wings either. |
04/15/2002 07:33:00 AM |
Bet that was a tough one to capture. The soft colors reminds me of a painting. |

Those little suckers are hard to catch ! I tried this week and got a few good shots. The only thing is..they are tiny tiny tine and you see more background that bird and his wings are almost unseen as they are sooooo fast and not stopped in action:( |
04/15/2002 03:25:00 AM |
really pretty photo, nice capture |
04/15/2002 02:57:00 AM |
Very blurred. Flash might have helped stop the wings more effectively ? Also the bird is very small in the frame and would be better closer in. (I realise how small they are!) |
