I wanted to show the contrast between the "old" payphones and the spped at which technology has advanced. The idea came to me asI drive past this payphone everyday to/from work and home.
I initially shot it a bit later at night but I wasnt happy with the sky so I went back out and re-shot this a bit earlier than the night before so that the sky would be more blue.

Love this one. I immediately realised it was a South African entry and therefore did not comment. I am always biased but in this case I needn't be because it is a really good photograph.

Difficult scene to expose and make all the elememnts work together for this challenge.
Likes. Love the colours working together yet contrasting in many ways. Reds and Blues in the sky. Sky especially as clean as it is helps in this scene. The lights of the cars are quiet a thick stream of lights and maybe just a tad to much, yet it needs to be there as it forms a nice leading line to our phone also being red as the lights itself. The big light with it's flare I like. Flares also brining eyes back to the phone. Repetitive pattern of the paving used to good effect.

Dislikes. Glare in the scene against the fence and the phone itself. Also the to strong white lights in the cars competing a bit to much with the street light which needs to be the main light - for me at least.
Giving it a 7 as there has def gone a lot of thinking into it which is more than for most of the pics with just a simple straight forward shot of a payphone.
Summary
Elements at this spot has been used to good effect to work together in making it pleasent, yet other things over which you have little control
also works against it.

The first thing that draws me in are the colors. The blurred traffic going by suggests the future moving on while the old standby phone stands patiently - ready if someone has a breakdown.

The light and the sky are gorgeous, and I just love the whole effect of the picture.

Great nighttime shot here.. Judging by the SuperSpar signs, this must be in Africa somewhere? Probably South Africa???

Love the light trails and the star bursts, very nice job!
