Found at a towing shop in Morgan Mill, Texas. This is on the drive to visit my daughter at college. I've stopped a couple of times before and photographed some of the items around this place, such as "Mater".
Notable is the large front window with a gas pump inside the window. The light on this part of the building was inconsistent, however, and didn't work for a basic editing challenge. This shot was from a previous visit.
This time the owner was out front and he offered to let me come in and see his collection of stuff. Old gas pumps, bicycles, all sorts of stuff of interest to anyone that enjoys photographing antiques and old rusty things. He was pleased that someone appreciated this all, as his wife has been harassing him to get rid of it.
The crop ended up being a little tall and narrow, as there were white moldings on either side that just pulled the eye away from the subjects of the pump and window. Hopefully the rest of the shot will have enough visual impact to overcome that minor issue. If I can pull a high 5 or low 6 with this entry, it can be the shot that makes my goal of putting my site average over the 5.5 mark.
Post-challenge notes:
Came it within the range I hoped for it and also (barely) hit my goal of getting my site average to 5.5. No complaints about that. |
