Well, it's a day before rollover and I'm pretty embarrassed. It looks like this is going to be my second highest scoring image to date, and I so obviously stole the idea from caba, so I'm going to dedicate this photo to Frank, who even tried to correct my title in the comments below. Thanks Frank, hope you don't mind! You can check his original image here:

Thanks guys, this is very much appreciated, but I feel I have to say something:
While I have a little bit of the DPC limelight, I'm gonna point it at someone who really deserves it: Mr sarampo.
Recently João won a Canon competition here in Portugal for this photo. Since he's a Nikon user, he had no real use for the prize, a Canon 550D. Being the amazing guy he is, he got together with my wife and planned a barbecue at our house and offered, much to my amazement, my old 400D to tellme. It was only after I recovered the power of speech that he passed me a box, containing the camera that took this photo - the first one I've submitted using my new toy.
So there you go folks, proof that it's the camera that matters, not the photographer! :-)
Now, if you wouldn't mind, go and give João some love - add him as a favourite, comment on a photo of his, whatever. He deserves it for being a generally amazing guy who made two people very, very happy, without actually gaining anything for himself.
Oh, one last thing - contrary to what Magnum_za thought, all the lines are made with toilet paper. I took some glue with me to secure each end of the stripes, and hoped for the best with the traffic. He has an eagle eye though, as I took a few shots from both ends, and in this one I had removed the roll from the bottom of the hill and moved it to the top, hence the overlap that you can see. |

Great story! Love the "offering your camera to someone else while you're right there then giving you a new one" idea =) |

Nicely done man, it was definitely worth to be car sick so you could take that picture :-D
Welcome back to DPC highlight, and now get your butt out of the sofa and do some more :-P
Thanks for the kind words, they're really appreciated.

Having said all that, it's kind of an odd place in the road to allow overtaking ;) A solid white line is more appropriate and safe! Odd it wasn't painted that way from the get-go. |

Hi Sam. Well done on your ribbon. The benefit of hindsight :) As for your PC above, thanks for the details. Amazing that the stripes are ALL loo paper and you didn't turn out to be road kill. My eagle eye didn't pick that up! As far as João is concerned, what a super person. I have benefited from one of his crits and it will help me choose next time I am undecided as to what image to submit. |

Lovely idea, the execution could be improved. I can see where the roll ends and the actual paint starts. I would simply have placed the roll dead bang on top of where the painted line starts without unraveling the roll at all. |
