Mama duck was on the roof of a house, looking for a nice safe place to knock her chicks off and onto the ground. (A park ranger told me that this is what they do when the nest is up high like this.) That is of course, until I interrupted her. She saw me taking pictures and took off for the other side of the peak. The poor babes followed and a few fell off. The boys who lived in this house were able to get 3 of the four babies (that fell off) back up to her. The next morning, they were gone. No one knows what happened. Mystery ducks!

I wish I had titled it "Duck, Duck, Roof" like leonedavis suggested. That would have been perfect.

That's a great picture, but how is it legal for this challenge if you shot it in April?

Great capture of a young family. Great amount of details, good colors, and nice use of depth of field. For me, the crop (top/bottom) feels a bit tight.

Love how you caught mom in mid-step. Are these guys on the roof???? Great colors and details. I almost entered one practically identical to this with quails. The last one looking at the camera.
