As usual, I probably over-analyzed the challenge description to death. By far the hardest thing about his challenge was choosing an image to reshoot (my own first entry didn't inspire me...)! I spent days looking at first entries (which in and of itself was a fascinating, not to mention time-consuming, exercise). I also found it quite difficult to find an image I wanted to reshoot, in a challenge that would fit the reshoot.

Regardless, I'm quite pleased with this image. The only thing I kept changing my mind about was the dark area on the far right, which only contains the stairs at the bottom. I cropped them out and it just didn't look right, so I put them back in. Then took them out. Then did this little exercise several more times and decided to leave it in. I just hope that my entry does better than the original :-)

Shot at the fabulous Bradbury Building in LA. I took a ton of images, but liked this the best.

[POST CHALLENGE]
Surprised (and pleased) this finished as well as it did. I took a chance with the "loose" interpretation, which clearly hurt the scoring. But delighted that the image itself pleased voters. Thanks everyone!

A great image in its own right but as an 'inspired by the original' piece - I think the articulation is a little weak.

the scene is really good but i think it just goes dark very fast,it would have been so better if the light went out a bit smoother...nice job anyway!

This is a beautiful shot but I don't see the connection to the original other than a reflection. Love the golden colortone.

From this perspective I would have liked more light around the newel post on the right.

I see very little resemblance to Wingy's shot. Wingy even mentions in his details that the windows were an intricate part of his photo.
