That's a beautiful specimen. I love the rich golden colour. Funny you said that about Topaz coz when I first heard of that I thought it must have been expressly for imparting golden overtones. |

Beautiful- you must have quite a collection! Gems and minerals were my main hobby for over 20 years growing up. I had opals and ruby crystals at age 7, learned to facet by 13, and won a gem ID contest against gemologists at 15. At one point I even had some specimens that trumped the Smithsonian (notably a breathtaking twinned rhodochrosite crystal), but time and mischievous brothers conspired to disperse the collection by college. Not much left now. :-( |

Great macro shot! When it came up the bottom 1/4 of the image was off screen and on reflection I think that would be a better crop as the bulk of white mineral in the bottom right takes too much focus away from the fantastic yellows. |
