 this made me think of Sting's song, "Fortress Around Your Heart".

converted to greyscale and toned with a custom quadtone, then used the magnetic lasso tool in PS7 and isolated the barbed wire. selected inverse and toned again, despeckled, feathered and deselected. cleaned up a stray filament of a spider web and cleaned up the edges of the barbed wire.

nice contrast on the FG & the BG. technically flawless, IMO. I like the simplicity & the compo is good as well. good luck!

Very nice study. Great detail and dof. The crop is the only thing that I'm not sure about.. Possibly this could be done in a more "panoramic" format? Really make the wire stand out, be the star. Here I find myself searching the background. 7

Cliched content (I've seen similar images of a knot in the barbed wire with an out of focus background many times). That said, people say that there's nothing new under the sun and it's all about putting your own stamp on it. I like the composition and the lighting and the limited colour palette overall.

I would have used a different title. Something like: No Freedom.
Looks like an amnesty International promotional poster. Simple but with the grey backgroud it makes it moody... Great shot, with a catchy title I would have voted my 2nd 10, now I have to vote realy low. 9

The background makes me think of stormy weather - very dramatic backdrop to the barbed wire. Overall I get a feeling of turmoil and threat. The dark bluish 'cold' tones add to the mood. Great detail in the wire too.
