oh my, oh my, oh my!! Just hit 6.9 at 111 votes. This isn't exciting -- it's painful! I find myself looking back at previous free studies to see how low the top 10 goes...!

I'm feeling kind of dumb now, however. This is actually an outtake from the stop motion challenge. I liked this one a lot, but the bread was so light, it kind of disappeared in basic editing, and I was afraid that not being able to see what they were going after would hurt the voting process.

It's wonderful to have it appreciated -- because I really liked this photo. It's still my goal to ribbon with a sea gull entry. It won't happen with this one, but having this score in a free study is even more exciting!

A couple of people have commented on the white background. Unfortunately for landscape shots, we get white skies here! Not the typical grey overcast, but almost completely white overcast! Here's the original -- . So when you increase the contrast, it blows out what very little there is left of the sky. The entire editing was done in basic, with the exception of the piece of bread. In basic, the bread almost disappeared, it blended in too well. That's why I didn't enter it into stop motion -- because you couldn't really see what they were going after, and it didn't make as much sense.

How did you do for white backgound? Did you put a very big white background behind the birds or blow out the sky?

To be honest I kind of hope you never get that ribbon for a seagul shot because I am loving them and I don't want to see them stop. An excellent shot, and the only flaw is that it didn't place higher. It deserved to. Keep it up!

Excellent capture with 3 birds in the frame and so much happening. Love the blown out background and shades of white of the birds. perfectly exposed. Really a stunning bird shot. The battle for bread(?) makes this less natural for me being the only thing that drops this to an 8 in my voting.
