Had a few other shots to choose from, but in the end I really liked this one as my fav for this year. Dave has this in his portfolio with not as much processing. I tried to push the details more than usual to try and please the DPC crowd.

The ridiculous eye pimping on this site is what I mean by pushing the details. Although I like it in some cases, I wouldn't do that for anyone's port.

Its hard to match last year's success, so no matter where this ends up I am still pleased with this submission. I have been warned that portraits don't tend to score well in these challenges,but I have to stick to my guns.

This was shot with a Canon 17-40 f4L,(which I no longer own and regret selling it!)

Overall I like this a lot, especially the light and detail on the jacket. However, the eyes have almost a tad too much sparkle, to the point of looking unrealistic.

I thought this was Eddie Izzard when I saw the thumbnail. A great portrait, but the eyes are abit to overprossesed for my taste.

Absolutely wonderful lighting that really makes the contrasts between highlights and shadows very dynamic. Look at all the great details in this portrait - and the gentleman pose is arresting too;-) Great catchlights in the eyes. His bold glance just captures and holds eye contact with you. Outstanding portrait work here.

Sure this image will make any womans knees wobble. Good strong pose and love eye contact and placing of head in frame. eyes have been worked maybe a tad to much but one of best portraits Ive voted on so far
