Obviously, I goofed with the title- yes, it should have been SHALLOW DOF, and probably SOFT FOCUS.

This is my daughter Alexandrea - I thought she looked a bit like a young Theda Bara - so I would have titled it Young Theda if I had had that choice.

I love this! I love the soft focus -- which is another technique. Matter of fact, I'm not sure it is deep depth of field. It looks more shallow, but it definitely uses 3 techniques, and it is lovely! 9

Lovely portrait, very emotive. Ignoring the challenge topic I would score this very high. This definitely does not qualify as a deep DOF. You have a wonderfully blurred background and out of focus hair. It's difficult for me to see the focal point other than the nose and lips. I also do not consider this high key as you have a reasonably broad range of tones from pure black to almost white. A high key image should produce a histogram that is shifted greatly to the right. I'm giving you a 5 because I really like the portrait, emotion, and processing. Great job. (my choice would have been: portrait, rule of third (eyes), and soft focus)

Deep depth of field? Looks like a pretty shallow DOF to me. Nice, portrait, however.

Portrait: yes , Deep DOF: no (it is rather BOKEH in the left side),
High Key:undecided (the dark area and light area are more or less equal)

To me this looks like a Shallow DOF

Now I would call this shallow DOF...not Deep DOF (and I would be curious to hear your thoughts about it) I am trying to learn more. You definitely have "soft focus" as well...overall I like the picture alot

Okay definitely not Deep DOF. Probably more of shallow DOF. You could have also used soft focus. The soft focus of the photo is making me like it more. The black and white is good also. I think her nose and under her eyes should be toned down some though. I know it's use of high key, but it looks as if it went just a tad bit too far.

I enjoy this image; her expression is ambiguous enough that it's something I want to look at for a while to figure out. I don't see the high key in this, so I'm substituting "soft focus" in the title for myself and then it all works really well.
