When a game of football (soccer) is played in England, particularly the amature game, it is traditional at half time for a plate of sliced oranges to be passed around the team. This is supposed to refresh and revitalize a team.

what an interesting way of approaching this challenge - very unique, i like it. it could stand to be a little more focused, but a great pic nonetheless

Sorry, but the image does not convey a team sport. Remember, the challenge is for the image itself, not the image title. No matter how you spin it, the image does not convey anything resembling a team sport. Good shot otherwise, but off-topic.

This reminds me of my days playing soccer when I was younger.... great shot!

would anyone who's not a team parent understand how important these oranges really are? Nice!

I'l; have one

How many hours have I spent cutting up oranges for half-time snacks????? Lots and lots - and oh, do I miss those times now. Thank you for the wonderful reminder!! What a great interpretation of the challenge - skillfully photographed. You get a 10 from me!

Without the title, I wouldn't think of team sports. A beautiful and well-focused shot. If this was a challenge about oranges, maybe I'd rate it much higher!

My son played soccer from age 5 to 18. This photo lit me up remembering the games and the oranges at half time for energy. Thanks! I worry that it will not score well because a lot of folks may not understand the relationship to youth soccer. Glad you took the risk, however. Good luck! (6)

Neat shot! I can remember cutting up mounds of these for boys soccer games!

This the best one yet, I can relate to this, we always have oranges. nice shot at that

The colors and arrangement are great! I did score it lower due to the stretch in meeting the challenge, though.

Neat photo--great color and composition, but this doesn't say "Team Sports" to me.

If you are a parent with kids that play football (soccer) you have got to love this shot. Excellent take on the challenge. Oranges could be just a touch more in focus. -8

if you say so

Awesome idea for this challenge. Very inventive. Very good use of composition. Maybe would have worked better if shot in different light - this lighting seems to be slightly harsh... but I'm not sure. Good luck.

This picture is okay however .If I were to follow this theme I would have placed the orange differently with some eaten and just skin aqnd perhaps not on a plate in the grass but with plate/containor on a players bench with the field as a backdrop with the net or goal posts or bleachers as backdrop.

Orange slices are often served up as halftime refreshments but this composition
just says fruit.
5 from me.
I think you had an excellent idea you just needed to expand on it some.

Great shot...maybe a stretch for the challenge

What's the sport? This could be just a still life, or lunch break for a bunch of schoolkids. The oranges look very taste though.

I don't really get it? why oranges?
06/02/2004 05:28:36 PM
Nice picture of orange slices. Now I'm hungry. Team sport, how?

Edit: After a private message from the photog, I now understand the message that is trying to be conveyed. I have adjusted the score appropriately.

Nice picture, with good color, but i am nout sure what team sport this represents
06/02/2004 02:56:26 PM
Nothing but the title says sports in this shot. The color is good and I like the composition too.
06/02/2004 02:21:25 PM
nice concept and beautifully captured
06/02/2004 10:02:40 AM

Nice composition, i'm not sure about the connection to the challenge. Good luck...
