Howdy! I'm a 21 year old junior-and-a-half at Texas A&M double majoring in English Rhetoric and Communications. I'm originally from Dallas, Texas but for the next year I'll call the thriving metropolis of College Station my home. Unfortunately they don't offer photography OR journalism here, so I just have to sneak into the fotog classes offered through and architecture. I'm relatively new at this photography thing, but I'm very passionate and I love immersing myself in it and learning as much as I can.
I started off with a crappy little Nikon Coolpix 3100, and although it has served me pretty well, I'm definitely a Canon girl at heart. I moved up to a Rebel 300D in early 2004, which I LOVED, but when the 20D came out I couldn't resist upgrading for long. Other hardware consists of a Tamron 28-80, Tamron 70-300 Macro, and the 20D 18-55 kit lens, as well as the Canon 50 1.8 II, the 550EX Speedlite, a 420 flash, and an absurd amount of useless filters (yay photoshop!).
I'm currently working as a photojournalist at the Texas A&M Battalion (www.thebatt.com) alongside some incredibly talented and accomplished photographers, so it's a fantastic learning experience for me.. Plus it's some extra cash to save up for that legendary L glass, an extra body (Mark II? I wish!), and some studio lighting.
I graduate in Spring 2006, and I would love to pursue a career in both photography and writing, my first passion, but I haven't figured out exactly how that would work yet. If you've got any ideas, let me know!
