 Thanks a bunch for the comments, votes, and favs! This scored much better than I expected.

I went wandering around the yard the last day of the challenge to see if I could find anything to shoot. Nothing interesting on the butterfly bushes in the back, one little black bug on a rose in the front, oh wait! Bees everywhere on the purple bushes! Amazingly, I was able to get a couple of good shot using manual focus for a change!

Did a normal conversion in Lightroom. The important step was the EV+1 setting in Nik Silver Efex Pro. I love that software! Quick duotone in photoshop after that and that's about it!

Oh, and your in challenge comment, Deb, would have been a much better title. :)

This is such a beautiful shot. The color tone is perfect and the low contrast works very well.

This truly is one of those instances where monochrome with a touch of color suits the photograph. One of my favorites in the challenge.

Love this. The sharp focus of the bee is just where it matters. I love the detail on the wings yet the soft fuzzy body which is what I love the most about bees. I love the tone. Definitely a fave. 10.
