 when this challenge was announced i checked out the meaning of grunge ..
i know grunge can be interpreted in different ways, especially in art, but the general idea was ..
Filth; dirt.
the state of being covered with unclean things
Synonyms: dirt, filth, grime, soil, stain, grease

we have heaps of flies around at the moment .. really ugly ones that i thought were perfect for grunge .. i hoped i'd be able to get a photograph of a fly good enough to enter in the challenge ..
when i saw these two mating on the jacuzzi outside i was pretty excited coz they did 'grunge' brilliantly especially the filthy bit .. lol ..!! ..

i got a stack of very low votes and i wondered if i offended ppl with the subject or the low voters didnt consider the different ways grunge can be interpreted ??
anyhoooooo .. thank you everyone who appreciated it and made positive comments during voting ..
& i'm glad some ppl got a laugh coz i was trying to be slightly humourous
as well as GRUNGY ..!!.. :)

Sorry I didn't vote on this challenge because gee wiz you've given me a HUGE belly laugh with this one (rare emotional reaction = high score)! Putting aside the hilarious interpretation of the challenge (yes I'm still giggling) your execution of this image is excellent in color, clarity, and composition. And thank you for visually educating me on how flys mate. You are the best, roz!

(by the way, that's the worst case of red-eye I've ever seen - some cameras might have tried to auto-correct it!)

Rotflmao, this is absolutely hilarious. What a capture - did you really catch them doing this, or did you have to stage them with very fine tweezers and a twisted but great sense of humour? You just have to ribbon on this one, lol.
