Post Challenge: WOW!! I'm stunned and really grateful to have won a ribbon on this site. It means more to me than it probably should, and I thank you all for the very nice comments and votes. I'm really humbled.

There were a couple of folks that asked how I got access to take this picture. Well, unfortunately you have to be a commercial airline pilot to have access to the jumpseat. I wedged a portable tripod behind the jumpseat to steady the camera and hoped for a little smooth air in the descent. The trick is to have a clear night so that you can see the lights from up high as you aren't supposed to use electronic devices down low.

Thanks! Yeah, I usually sleep on the jumpseat too! It's an A320. Not a freight dog - UAL.

What an amazing image and perfectly excecuted too. I also love your comment about it meaning more to you than it should. It made me smile and I'm positive I would feel the same way if I was ever to get a ribbon. Brilliant effort, congratulations.

Fantastic image, and something very different than all the other stuff on offer. My choice for the blue, and the only 10 I've given out in this challenge. I don't think that anyone could argue that this wasn't creative use of light. Meets the challenge perfectly. Good luck for a strong finish!

More a image of the use of lighting than a creative use of lighting. It's hard to rate this because of it's nature. It might have been a better approach to find a subject and then use the lighting to create the image rather than of the light itself.

Unfortunately to get this shot today you'd either have to be an airline employee or a terrorist or give us the scoop!
