Hugh light range.
03/17/2009 02:54:55 AM
Loving the shadows on this.
03/16/2009 06:52:05 PM
Dark face in shadow - looks sooty.
03/16/2009 02:48:38 PM
Without the title, I wouild have thought he was a jockey :)
03/16/2009 01:21:17 PM
I long for more details in the shadows. And for his chin.

Nice composition, very dramatic.
03/16/2009 08:12:17 AM
I would like to see more of his face.
03/16/2009 07:53:58 AM
I really, really like this shot, even though I can find a lot of technicals that could be considered "wrong." It really seems to tell a story.
03/16/2009 07:41:39 AM
I really like this picture, the darkness, the anonymity of it, the unconventional nature of it.
03/15/2009 11:45:03 PM
Well captured and presented.
03/15/2009 05:51:57 PM
I can see what you are trying to achieve, unfortunately , I think your post processing did not come out quite right. Need to see a little more details of the person's face. The yellow tones left in the image seems a little out of place, you need to experiment with the hue adjustments more (try not to adjust hue with a high/mid saturation setting, try a low saturation level then slowly work from there), 5

Not sure I like the color tone of this image but this is a good capture and a decent candid portrait.
03/15/2009 08:02:46 AM
I wish his face were more visible, I think it would make the photo stronger.
03/15/2009 02:59:12 AM
Interesting portrait. Nice processing. Don't like the yellow cast though. Just plain black and white would have been better.
03/15/2009 02:49:35 AM
oh oh cheddar cheese girl...
I wouldnt mind its dark if it was of better quality and I wouldnt mind the quality if it was brighter...
yet its quite tight... I lack the space at the bottom...
03/14/2009 07:23:04 PM
Real life and real emotion. What a great way for him to be portrayed. Nicely done.
03/14/2009 04:04:45 PM
the off-center subject works well - nice contrast - I like the serious darkness of the face...
03/14/2009 02:10:29 PM
I really like the textures on this. Wish the crop wasn't so tight on his chin
03/14/2009 01:51:10 PM
Fantastic shot. The processing is what makes this image so nice. Good job.
03/14/2009 12:25:22 PM
Good shot. Maybe a little lighting on the face would've helped raise the score for me.
03/14/2009 10:12:29 AM
for me the contrast is a little over done, jmo
03/14/2009 10:01:35 AM
I'd tone down the highlights a bit. Some of them are pretty hot, especially on the helmet where they blend in with the background. Might also want to dodge the face a small amount.
03/14/2009 06:33:54 AM
Nice capture and postprocessing.
03/14/2009 06:23:56 AM
the shadowed face adds to the tension...nice work!
03/14/2009 06:15:42 AM
I'd like to see more of his face.
03/14/2009 05:18:25 AM
I very much like that his face is almost but not quite hidden.
03/13/2009 09:53:17 PM
Great tones. Very strong image made more so by the near anonymity of the man's face. 7.
03/13/2009 08:01:12 PM
wonderful environmental portrait.
03/13/2009 06:31:39 PM
nice enviromental portrait, good conversion to B&W
03/13/2009 06:07:56 PM
Gritty image.
03/13/2009 05:37:14 PM
you already know this shot is great :-P lighting good, detail good, composition good, everything good. I wonder if the man's a bit too dark, though...
03/13/2009 12:09:00 PM
The lighting and processing takes this image to a whole new level..
03/13/2009 11:13:20 AM
Very strong contrasts. Wished I could see more of the face.
03/13/2009 10:47:22 AM
Nice character shot, very emotive. Good lighting technique!
03/12/2009 04:05:34 PM
I like this capture! Hero portraits are the best.
03/12/2009 03:36:50 PM
Good capture of gritty determination
03/12/2009 12:59:18 PM
fantastic portrait
03/12/2009 12:22:10 PM
grim, as it should be.
03/12/2009 08:58:58 AM
I dont like the lighting. Cant see his face at all but I do like the artistic feel.
03/11/2009 04:05:27 PM
This man is earning his money.
03/11/2009 03:36:02 PM
Another angle will do better, his face has a lot of details and u should go much closer to this
03/11/2009 02:08:54 PM
Nice idea. A little too dark in the face and too blown out behind.
03/11/2009 02:01:44 PM
cool environmental portrait
03/11/2009 11:07:32 AM
an interesting shot...without the title I would say to dark not focused enough but with it...hmmm commands respect
03/11/2009 10:46:52 AM
would have been nice to see more of him. as it is the crop is too tight, and the picture looses it's power.
03/11/2009 09:26:31 AM
the texture in his face is great ...
03/11/2009 09:15:43 AM
Cool newspaper shot.
03/11/2009 04:47:44 AM
I'd love to see more detail on his face.
03/11/2009 04:06:20 AM
Some more light (levels or fill light) on the face would have made it much stronger.
03/10/2009 10:45:09 PM
nice, light would have be cool if turned on
