I love this.
The delicacy of the light, the smooth blurs of out of focus sections, the quiet colors.... what an elegant, emotional photo. Deserved a WAY better score! |

What a beautiful image. I have a Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens that will create razor thin strips of depth of field. I think you have used the limited DOF concept here perfectly. It doesn't work more often than it does, and this is one application where I love it! 10 from me! |

On a late afternoon he entered the room, and smiling at the one that lay there on her bed, he took a seat in a chair beside her.
The light through the window was waning, casting a soft glow on them, and a bird sang a little tune that was barely heard through the glass, but brightened that light just a little.
He listened to that bird, placing the guitar he had brought in his lap as he sat, and strummed a chord that echoed the song. He smiled down at her, the little girl, who had fallen ill so suddenly over the last few weeks and was now in danger of losing a battle with a sickness they could not defeat. Yet it was that she had strength enough to return his smile, and in a soft whisper asked if he would play her her favorite song.
So he tuned a little, and began to strum, and soon a wonderful and calming melody began to fill the room, and he joined his soft voice to it, and began a gentle chorus.
As the music filled the air, his voice and guitar lulled her into a gentle sleep, the pain in her face was eased, and while he played she passed to a kinder, gentler world on the wings of his final lullabye. |

Tones are wonderful here! A great way to display the guitar and guitarist. The hand on the fretboard could possibly be taken out, IMO. |

I wish the DOF was not quite as shallow.. Love the wood grain texture, and I wish the strings were more in focus. |

Excellent DOF and perspective, one of the better guitar photos I've ever seen. The soft light is so nice.

Photography at it's best... I can tell there's been little to no PP imposed upon this shot (and it doesn't need it). The lighting is good, the focus/DOF is perfect, and the composition is excellent. This is certainly a winner for the purists (and scoring quite well with me too). |
