Boy, THAT's a different take on a gator... Love the milky water... |
|

A very interesting composition. We get only a hint of the beast, but know well enough what we are looking at...at least I do. The cloudy murkiness of the water is also interesting...the ancient becomes abstract. |
|
|
03/17/2009 08:32:42 AM |
Interesting natural abstract. Perhaps a bit too much negative space, but who knows, it might be less abstract without it. (Not voting, at least yet, just commenting.) |

Good shot but the crop might hurt the score. |

Very interesting use of negative space. Probably look awesome as a print. |

Too difficult to interpret. An alligator hip? |
|

Nice... yeah, I like it. Bold crop, but that's all you need really. Great tones, you've turned the water into milk (well, maybe skim milk... or something) - bumping |

I love this. Square frame, neat subject, lots of negative space, all details that I love. |

great capture - keep up the good work |

Unique perspective. Great minimalastic type of photo -love the detail in the scales. |

Looks a bit like an alligator or crocodile. Decent shot, but I wish the subject was more discernible. |

The composition is great, it makes us wonder about the croc/alligator - a sense of intrigue:) |

I'm not so sure about this one. It's an alligator or crocodile, but just seeing the middle of it and so much negative space doesn't do it for me. You do have excellent detail on the hide. This looks like it may have been a "Skin" outtake. |
|
|
03/15/2009 07:51:28 PM |
I'm really not sure exactly what it is about this image that I find so captivating, but you're one of my top 3. I'm certainly a sucker for negative space, so that's part of it. Ah, well. Perhaps it's the undefinable character itself that I love. |
|
|
03/15/2009 06:38:38 PM |
creative crop you have here, the blown out highlights hurts this image a little. 6 |

I like the processing a lot. Not sure about so much negative space. |

So abstract and simplistic but gripping as well. |

Is that perhaps a crocodile or alligator? Good contrast and detail. Is this really the best photo you have ever taken and your favorite hidden gem? |

The contrast of the skin is amazing.. wish there was more creature in the image. or toes.. |

The detail on this is so incredible. I happen to be a fan of negative space, but that might work against you. Incredible contrast between the milky water and the sharp scales. I love the crop, and how there is just enough information to know what we're looking at. Love this. A fave. |

Excellent--my mind enjoyed the exercise, my eye feasted on the fine detail. I love a good crop. |

nice detail, and it's brought even more by this being black and white |

I like the minimalism here. So serene and then BAM! so abruptly irregular skin.

This severe crop may work better if more in shot & corner to corner |

It almost looks like he is taking a milk bath. Don't think it will help his skin! I like the texture, and the contrast with the smooth water. I'm still trying to put my finger on this picture. I keep coming back to it. The negative space is growing on me. Maybe it's the black and white. Anyway, every time I come back to it I bump it, so that's a good thing. It is definitely a good study in texture. |
|

03/13/2009 10:10:56 AM |
This image makes me smile. Love the texture/smoothness competition going on here - works well with the contrast/gray well composed and framed. 8 |

Love the composition and the details of the alligator/crocodile. The water is a little flat. |

Lovely quirky graphic - I like it :) |

Certainly in my top few in this challenge. The milky mist of the water hints at the immeasurable time that your title refers to, and makes a powerful statement about the idea of form and function, and aptness to purpose. Thus about beauty. A living Grecian Urn; a 'foster-child of Silence and slow Time ... beauty is truth, truth beauty'. 9. |

LOL, the last image was the other end of the gator, a quirk of random sorting.
Love the detail and the composition, works really well in b/w |

Don't see any sense in this composition, reptiles are far more interesting than muddy water. |
