| Beautiful image - I love the detail in the eyes and face. The greens look a tad too saturated, as they detract from the subjects somewhat (same with the young chimps' hand) but very strong composition. |

Oh, well... Technically this is outstanding; exposure and processing are excellent, framing/composition is spot-on, and you basically have eye contact with both beasts.
A particularly compelling aspect of the image is how the baby is reaching out, palm upwards, as if to cup her face, and how she is pointing directly at the baby herself. This gestural sophistication is lifting the shot above the usual, mundane-but-technically-excellent captive animal shots we see at DPC.

| Back to comment: Try desaturating the red channel in Hues/Saturation about 50% then bump the upper quadrant in curves to brighten a bit. It will look alot more natural. |

| What a wonderful, stunning shot. Love the timing of the capture that has this young chimp playfully hamming it up for the camera. Even though these two primates do not speak it is their expressions and actions that speak to us. This is the banter I see between them. He looks like he is trying very much to get the attention of the adult chimpanzee. The young one's hand is stretched out ready to grab the chin of the adult and say "Hey! Pay attention to me!" The adult however has the typical adult expression (and I can identify with this:-) ) of "Hang on! Just a minute there is something that I need to look into". Great lighting, great detail, great colors, and great mood capture - 9 |
