Wonderfully sharp and I like the blown background. I'm not overly fond of the unnatural landing place... but gee... that's one sharp bird! |

Peter had never been the brightest bulb in the lamp, and everyone had always said that he would one day suffer for his constant naive curiosity and tendency to get into mischief.
Well, came a day when those predictions came all too true, for Peter had flown down, thinking he had spotted the fattest, juiciest treat he had ever seen, just sitting there out in the open like that on that pole. His greed got the better of him, and his lack of any real intelligence or common sense laid the groundwork for that fateful moment.
He alighted on the pole, and with a gleam of hunger in his eyes, stretched out his talon, and attacked...
... and with a sharp snapping sound and buzz of sparks and light, well, no longer could they say that Peter wasn't the brightest bulb, for he lit up like a christmas tree in the square that day. |

I LOVE THIS! LOVE IT! What fabulous detail in that bird in action. And there's something about the contrast between the powerline and the wildlife that really grabs me -- and the intensity on his face. What a great photo! |

One of the best osprey shots I think I've ever seen. The clarity, tones, and action are terrific! The fact that it's a utility pole is a little distracting, BUT seeing the osprey's talons clasped around the right pole with the left extended is really pretty amazing. Great action shot - and as a bird lover, one in a million. 9 from me. :-) |

Beautiful bird, and great focus on your subject. The only drawback is the powerline, though had you shot this before he landed, the pose would be different. |

Nice capture, but I'd like to see the crop a little different. That top wing is too close to the frame's border. Maybe equalizing the spacing of the wings from the edge would serve this capture better. |

Voted earlier coming back to comment now. This is a fabulous shot of this Osprey coming in for a landing! Love the sharp details we see as this bird of prey focuses on landing... from the details in the feathers in the outspread wings to the beak & head, and to the outstretched talon getting ready to grasp hold. I marvel at the luck, patience or both of those who have been able to capture such beautiful captures of any birds of prey. I have tried with very little success of my own for they just move to fast out of frame before I have time to focus so I truly appreciate the time and patience needed to capture a really good shot of these birds. |
