 This is one of 4 shots taken the summer of 03 in Burtchard Gardens. The image was shot hand held using late afternoon natural light with a circular polarizer. Post processing steps, slight adjustment to curves, selective color to adjust the blacks and whites, increased the exposure, UMS, reduced size, resharpened and saved to the file you see. I know the lens flare as well as the light filtering down to the center right might detract from the flower but I felt the use of the natural light back lighting the flower bringing out the clarity of the pedal lines was more important.

I really like this, but I see a little bit of sun-glare right at the top of the flower (possibly intentional?). Really nice detail in those long petals though.

The upper highlights (above the calla lily) annoy me because the rest of the image is so perfectly stunning. I would have burned them.
