Was my first "challange". Lighting, basic lights at home. Editing steps, lightened picture..."soft touch" on camera setting. That is about it, please understand this is my first submission of any of my photographs. This is a very new experience for me. Please critique!

I know there was a comment regarding the softness of the photograph. But, that is what I really wanted to achieve. To me, an angel is delicate and soft...I was pleased with the end result as this was really my first "photograph" submitted.

This has an interesting vintage softness to it, resembling film work actually. This is lovely and I think it is a great start for a unique personal style.

To start with, welcome to DPC. Thought I would leave a comment after I saw that you didn't receive very many comments during the challenge. Although you didn't get very many, the ones you did get gave you a ton of information (although, a little cryptic maybe).

First, I love your subject and the look on her face. This is a wonderful capture. However, your image does have a red tint to it that is easily fixed using post processing. Since I don't know which software you are using, it is very difficult to suggest the easiest way to correct this but it can be done with Hue/Saturation or with Curves. The soft touch filter you applied to this image probably hurt your score more than the white issue. The DPC crowd really likes the eyes to be sharp especially with an image like yours where the eyes really engage the viewer. Third, almost every image looses sharpness when it is downsized to 640 pixels. This made your Soft Filter even softer.

You really did a great job for your first challenge. I would be happy to help with more detailed processing steps if you would like to PM me.

The only way that I realized that the girl had wings is because of the title. The wings are lost in a fog that seems to dominate the image. Unless you were going for an "angel in the clouds" theme I don't see it working with this image.
