Greetings from the Critique Club!
I'm probably not the best critiquer for this shot - I myself have no idea how to do set-up shots very well. I think you met the challenge OK - the feather may be considered a bit dark by some but in general it has a feel of "light on white" and feathers are indeed "light". The light is pretty good - I like it coming from the side and it is fairly even across the shot, though there is a bit of a burned out section in the upper right corner that isn't really noticeable unless you really look.
I think the composition and reason for the shot are the two things that probably hurt your score the most. I think I can see what you might have been going for - one often sees feathers sticking out at the beach or near a river in rocks like these, but to do it as a set up shot kind of loses that context. Focus, clarity, and processing are all pretty good. |
