I made this landscape and tree out of:

Twig (just in case we had to have a part of a real tree)
Cotton balls
Hair spray
Various spices (basil, sage, rosemary, cilantro, crushed red pepper, etc)
Blue and yellow tissue paper (to make the green landscape)
The teal wall of my dining room

Hope this vibes with the spirit of this challenge. Its my first. Critiques welcome!

Greetings from the Critique Club, and welcome to DPC!

I love the creativity in this shot. Definitely outside of the norm for this challenge. That's not always a good thing on DPC though. I think the biggest issue is that the subject is obviously not a tree. When I voted on the challenge, I thought it was spray painted popcorn or something. Also, the shininess is distracting.

I do like the overall composition of the shot. A single tree on the right, a curved horizon, and a beautiful blue sky complimenting the yellow in the ground.

The lighting on the ground is good. I think the lighting is too strong on the tree though. Either less lighting, or a less reflective coating may have helped. I do agree with the commenter below that the overall feel of the shot is a little dark. Would have liked to see the sky glow a little brighter. (Tip: Bright colors work well on DPC)

Focus is good. Gives the photo a very 3 dimensional feel.

Props for thinking outside of the box, and taking so much time to set this up. I think in this challenge, though, there were a lot of breathtaking landscape shots that captured the higher votes.

That's creative. Is that marshmallow? Nice DOF.

Not sure what this is. Looks like a cotton ball with herbs glued to it. A model tree from a diorama?

different, fun, I like it.

Love how this is outside the norm. Would like to have seen a bit better focus on the backside of the subject but for simply going outside the box and making your own.../8 Nice work.

nice idea, but not very well executed, lacks of DOF, overall too dark, not enough spice on the "tree"
