My son James jrrose1 goofing around - as usual! He had a cake cutter over head and was pretending to be a great Ninja who was ready to take on some enemy. He is not a loud kid, but one of significant personality. This pose did seem to be a scream as if being loud. I figured the title would work well for the shot. Hoping for a 6+ score - we'll see!

Shot before a birthday party.
Lighting: Used a bounce flash off the ceiling.

Editing: Crop, minor clone in background and on shirt and forehead. Dodge and burn of eyes a bit to brighten - also on background, hue/saturation to increase blues and reds, Noise Ninja to sharpen without really any smoothing. Resize for web, a bit more dodge on eyes, save.

I am very happy with the comments and the score. This was a very candid shot taken without any planning, but with a full of personality kid. James has enjoyed getting updates on 'his' score all week.

I meant to comment on this. If ever there was a chellenge for kids (without being labeled such), this was it. Whatever they're feeling, you're going to get it -- 100%. Anyway, great job -- lots of personality and lots of fun.

(Someone gave this a one? Really?)

Nice expression! I think this would have been even worked better with vertical composition. A diagonal line composition may have added more dynamic feel than a square format.

Love his expression in this picture, it is one of the few that you can actually see his personality thru the photo. Great job.

Definitely looks loud! The arms up in the air is a great touch. You show just enough to get the point across without losing detail and focus on the face. Blue is a nice loud color to emphasize the point. Great sharp focus and even lighting.

Makes me glad I have girls...

Normally I'm put off a bit at cutting off of appendages at joints (or there abouts), but the in your face of the image, and the use of his arms as a frame, reallllly work. For me at least. Gosh this makes me smile.

The focus is great here. You captured the details well. I really like the symmetry captured using the arms to frame his facial expression. And the post on the eyes is amazing.
