 Our dog Caly. She loves to play in the snow outside and always ends up with a nose full of snow. I have always wanted to do a close up shot of her face with my Tokina 12-24mm to get that exaggerated look, and this is the product of one such attempt.

I went with a high key approach (shot in the sun with a fill flash) to blow out the snow that had been trampled a bit. I will probably get dinged a bit for it, but I like it. Projected score (5.5, but if people find it funny, it may see 6...)

Processing of RAW image prior to JPEG conversion in CS4: Exposure adjustment, clarity, color selections (lighten blues), curves adjustment. As JPEG, adjusted exposure, Selective color (brighten whites and greys, darken reds and blacks), Curves, hue/saturation, and levels adjustement layers, smart sharpen, save for web. Adjusted selective colors post resize, USM for sharpening

Post Challenge: I was very surprised at the positive response to this one. I was sitting at 7.75 after 25 votes (ridiculous!), and sat right at 7 for the rest of the week. I am glad for all the great comments, telling me that the shot delivered exactly what I wanted to deliver. Overall, extremely happy with the finish and thrilled to get another new image for my 'top row'.

was going to pick your airdale in the action shot for pik your fav pic but as i was leaving your portfolio i noticed this hilarous photograph .. how brilliant this is .. :)

This is soooo cute! It's great that you can't see Caly's eyes, and the snow on her face is pretty. Kind of makes me feel a bit sorry for her, if it weren't for the fact you say she likes the snow so much.
