I agree with what Carl has said below. Rather than focusing too much on creating a bokeh, you should have tried to have a bokeh that would have enhanced the subject |

Maybe you should have tried a background bukeh that enhanced the picture better. It is hard to see how the lights enhance the cigarette scene. |

Your idea might need a little bit of tweaking... I do find your focus a bit off and the entire image is just a hair too dark. Your lights in the bg are pretty but they don't really enhance the image I feel you are trying to portray. Perhaps a great iced glass of scotch or whiskey as the bokeh would have complimented it more... maybe just a table with empty chairs. I just don't feel like the lights were the right choice here. The background is great but you've lost a lot of detail in the foreground. |
