I thought this was a cute idea, but I didn't have much time to work on it. The "rock" is carved out of the same block of florist foam as my Oxymoron entry and repainted with stone texture paint. I ran a black hose behind the rock and let water drip through. I actually crushed mica and carefully applied the shiny flakes to increase the realism, but they didn't really show up here (probably a result of the polarizer), and no time to reshoot. It'll have to do.
Processing: Rotate, levels, curves, USM, photo filter for a warmer tone, Shadow/Highlight, Noise Ninja, adjust color channels separately to balance hand and stone color.
Yeoww... crushed, and two low 5's in my last 3 entries. That hurts. This was a good idea that I totally blew in execution. The "rock" really does look like a rock, but I did a lousy job of shooting it. All the sharper angles and sparkles were so diminished that it wound up looking like a noisy t-shirt. My own fault for waiting until the last minute again so there was no time to correct it. :-/ |

| creative idea, but the lighting needs work. There is also a good deal of grain, perhaps a different ISO would help this |
