The image itself comes off to me as a snapshot, but one that could have been improved with the right post processing.
The biggest problem, however, is JPEG compression. Your file size of only 76k indicates a highly compressed image and that is what is robbing most of the detail and sharpness from this image. I can see lots of compression artifacts around the high contrast edges, especially just to the right of the bird. Check your compression settings when you save your file. Always adjust JPEG compression so that your file size is as large as possible, but within the challenge limit. (150k for this one) I don't know what you use for editing, of course, but I have posted an example and some notes on the compression settings in PaintShop Pro:

I think that for this to be effective, the bird needs to be larger in the frame, or not competing so much with the branches behind it. |
