 Esquimalt Lagoon bird sanctuary is a great place during fall/winter. Besides the regular residents we get a lot of migratory transients.

The mute swans and Canada geese are regulars but I also saw a single trumpeter swan this day.

I took a couple buckets of flatted barley and sat right beside the water, and was soon surrounded by ducks, geese and swans. A couple geese and one of the swans even ate out of my hand.

this is beautiful, I can only image how it would of looked if the water was still, may of been a ribbon winner

i would have left more room on the left hand side of the frame, so the bird wouldn't be so centered
